Ingredients

- ¼ cup milk
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Tart Crust
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt.
- Add cold butter cubes and rub them into the flour until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg yolk and cold water, then mix until the dough comes together.
- Shape into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and press it into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim the edges and prick the base with a fork.
- Freeze for 10 minutes, then preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line the crust with parchment paper and baking beans (or rice) and blind bake for 12 minutes. Remove the paper and beans, then bake for another 5 minutes. Let cool.
Step 2: Make the Chocolate Filling
- Heat cream and milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warm (do not boil).
- Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Gradually whisk into the melted chocolate.
